Christian Home Educators – Reflecting on pluralism, politics, theology and where next?

Dr Sarah Holmes & Dr Harriet Pattison

home educationIn 2023,  Dr Holmes and Dr Pattison of Liverpool Hope University,  were invited to conduct research on the thoughts and positioning of Christian home educators in England in the light of the then impending Schools Bill.

Although the bill has now been dropped, its issues continue to form a political narrative which impacts on home educators and has, perhaps, particular implications for Christian home educators.

In this webinar they discuss their research findings following survey data from 462 Christian home educators.  Their analysis follows two distinct lines: what are the political possibilities within pluralistic societies for minority religious groups’ recognition and protection, and secondly, theological perspectives on state controlled home education.

They invite all to share their findings and to contribute additional thinking on potential ways forward.
